President Bola Tinubu has officially launched the 2024 Christian pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan.

The event was held at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, on Sunday, with Tinubu represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.

The theme of the pilgrimage, “Pilgrimage of Renewed Hope for Total Restoration,” aligns with the administration’s vision, Akume noted.

He urged pilgrims to deepen their faith in God, pray for Nigeria’s progress, and avoid absconding during the trip, emphasising that there is no place like home.

Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), highlighted challenges since assuming office in February but reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to smooth pilgrimages.

He warned against absconding, stressing that offenders and their guarantors would face penalties, including being blacklisted.

The first batch of 260 pilgrims from Lagos State departed with a total of 350 people, including officials, marking the start of the exercise.
