President Bola Tinubu is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping today Tuesday, in Beijing.
Tinubu, who departed Abuja for the diplomatic mission last Thursday, will engage in high-level discussions and sign several bilateral agreements.
Additionally, President Tinubu revealed that is agenda includes visit to major Chinese companies, including Huawei Technologies and the China Railway and Construction Corporation.
Nonetheless, a source from the Presidency disclosed that the meeting with the Chinese President will be ceremonious, as the Chinese President will host President Tinubu in a “grand style,” with a gun salute and an inspection of the guard of honour.
The outcome of the meeting will result in signing of several bilateral agreements between the two nations.
In a related development, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies at their Beijing office. This agreement, witnessed by President Tinubu and various senior officials, aims to advance the Smart City Project in Kaduna State.
The MoU outlines Huawei’s role in providing comprehensive solutions and technical support for enhancing security, efficiency, and transparency in public services. It also focuses on areas such as intelligent traffic systems, e-government, smart education, and renewable energy.
A joint committee will be established to detail the implementation plan, funding arrangements, and technology deployment to ensure the project’s success and sustainability.
