President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Abuja on Wednesday for a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom, marking part of his annual leave.

According to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the president will use the time for a working retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.

He is expected to return to Nigeria after his leave concludes.

President Tinubu’s departure followed his speech on Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary, during which he announced the introduction of a 30-day national youth conference.

The president emphasized the importance of including the youth, who constitute more than 60% of Nigeria’s population, in the nation’s policy-making process.

He stated that the conference would focus on education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice, aiming to empower young people to play an active role in nation-building.

Tinubu stressed the government’s commitment to implementing recommendations from the youth conference and underscored his administration’s focus on reforming Nigeria’s political economy and security.

He reaffirmed his determination to defeat bandits and terrorists to enable displaced farmers to return to their fields, which is crucial for addressing the country’s rising food prices.
