The Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) has dismissed a staff member accused of extorting and harassing a passenger at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The employee, along with other airport workers, allegedly extorted ₦100,000 from Oyewale Oyesiji, a first-time traveller to South Africa, in December 2024.

Following the allegation, SAHCO launched an investigation through a panel of inquiry, which found the staff member guilty.

The management acted on the panel’s report and terminated the employee in line with Nigeria’s labour laws.

A company source confirmed that SAHCO plans to meet with the extorted passenger to update him on the outcome.

SAHCO’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Vanessa Uansohia, declined to comment on the dismissal but reaffirmed the company’s zero-tolerance policy for corruption and misconduct.

“We condemn any act of extortion, harassment, or unethical behaviour. SAHCO remains committed to professionalism and integrity,” Uansohia stated.
