In a bid to revamp Nigeria’s tax system and boost revenue generation, the Senate will hold a two-day public hearing on tax reform bills starting Monday.
The session, organised by the Senate Committee on Finance, will bring together top government officials and 71 key stakeholders for in-depth discussions.
Following a closed-door meeting, Committee Chairman Senator Sani Musa assured that the process would be transparent and inclusive, addressing all concerns to shape policies that benefit the nation’s economy.
The hearing will focus on four crucial bills, including the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill and the Nigerian Revenue Services Bill on Monday, followed by the Nigerian Tax Administration Bill and the Nigerian Tax Bill on Tuesday.
Among those expected to participate are Finance Minister Wale Edun, Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, FIRS Chairman Zacch Adedeji, and National Bureau of Statistics CEO Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, alongside officials from the petroleum and trade ministries.
This initiative is part of broader reforms intended to strengthening tax administration, improving compliance, and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
