Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has taken her suspension by the Senate to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), describing the action as unlawful and a reflection of the challenges faced by women in Nigerian politics.

The Kogi Central lawmaker, who was recently suspended, also filed a complaint against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, alleging unfair treatment. She maintained that her suspension was unjustified and violated democratic principles.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition to the IPU seeks intervention on what she termed a suppression of her legislative rights. The case has sparked debates over parliamentary discipline and gender representation in Nigerian politics.

The Senate has yet to officially respond to her petition.
