The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, has officially declared Saturday, March 1st, 2025, as the first day of Ramadan 1446AH, based on the confirmed sighting of the crescent moon across the country.

President Bola Tinubu congratulated Muslims on the commencement of Ramadan, encouraging them to use the month for reflection, devotion, and acts of generosity. He also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic recovery, citing stabilising food prices and fuel costs.

The Katsina State Hisbah Board has ordered the closure of all private schools for the duration of Ramadan to allow students to fully observe the fast. Non-compliance will be met with consequences.

Both Sultan Abubakar and President Tinubu called on Muslims to pray for Nigeria’s progress, unity, and peace during Ramadan. Additionally, the President General of the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society urged prayers for an end to insecurity and suffering in the country and around the world.
