Nigeria’s Super Eagles have secured a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after results in Group D confirmed their qualification.

Libya’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in Kigali on Thursday left Rwanda unable to catch Nigeria, who lead the group with 11 points from five matches.

The Super Eagles solidified their top position following a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic.

With one game remaining, Benin sits second with seven points, followed by Rwanda with five, and Libya with four.

Victor Osimhen’s recent goal against Rwanda elevated his international tally to 23, placing him alongside Segun Odegbami as Nigeria’s joint-second all-time top scorer.

In the upcoming fixtures, Nigeria will face Rwanda in Uyo, while Benin must beat Libya or depend on Nigeria defeating Rwanda to secure qualification.

The Super Eagles, runners-up in the previous AFCON, now look ahead to the 2025 tournament with confidence.
