Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, is making waves beyond the music industry as she joins the ownership group of San Diego FC, a Major League Soccer (MLS) club in the United States.
Her involvement in the club comes through The Leading Vibe, her creative company, and a partnership with Pave Investments, an African private investment firm that has previously worked on major sports deals, including NBA Africa.
Tems expressed enthusiasm about this new venture, emphasising the power of football in uniting people and the opportunity to contribute to the club’s growth.
“This is an exciting step for me,” she said. “Football has a way of bringing people together, and I look forward to being part of something special in San Diego.”
San Diego FC sees her involvement as a strategic move, leveraging her global influence in music, culture, and entertainment to strengthen the club’s brand and community engagement.
She now joins an exclusive list of influential partners, including actress Issa Rae, former Spanish footballer Juan Mata, ex-U.S. Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, and baseball star Manny Machado.
With this latest move, Tems is proving that her impact extends far beyond the stage, venturing into the world of sports and business with a vision for long-term influence.
