President Bola Tinubu has applauded the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for the successful revival of the Port Harcourt refinery, marked by the commencement of petroleum product loading on Tuesday.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu recognised former President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts in initiating the refinery’s comprehensive rehabilitation and expressed gratitude to the African Export-Import Bank for financing the project.
He commended NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, for his commitment to overcoming challenges and achieving this milestone.
Tinubu called for the swift reactivation of the Warri, Kaduna, and second Port Harcourt refineries to boost domestic production capacity.
The president reaffirmed his administration’s focus on energy sufficiency and security, highlighting the importance of reducing Nigeria’s reliance on imported refined products.
