President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced plans to convene a 30-day National Youth Conference aimed at addressing the challenges facing Nigeria’s youth population.
The announcement was made during his speech on Tuesday, marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Anniversary.
Tinubu stated that the modalities for the conference, including delegate selection, will be developed in consultation with young people and their representatives.
The event is expected to tackle core issues such as education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice, with the goal of empowering youths to actively participate in nation-building.
He added that the government would seriously consider the recommendations and outcomes from the conference as part of its broader mission to create a more inclusive and prosperous nation.
In his speech, Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reform Nigeria’s political economy and defence structure, vowing to win the battle against bandits and terrorists.
He praised the resilience of the Nigerian people, noting that the country has endured crises that have caused other nations to disintegrate.
