Tinubu Pledges Renewed Hope for Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to national progress, urging citizens to remain hopeful.

Addressing members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) on Friday, Tinubu reflected on the bold steps taken since assuming office in 2023, including the removal of fuel subsidies. He acknowledged the difficulties that followed but maintained that the decision was necessary to stabilise the economy.

“Eliminating the fuel subsidy was a tough but necessary choice. We cannot afford to push Nigeria into financial ruin,” Tinubu stated, as conveyed by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.

He pointed to emerging signs of economic recovery, citing increased investment inflows, improved agricultural yields, and growing competition in the petroleum sector.

On national security, Tinubu assured that the government was making headway in tackling insecurity, emphasising that its impact transcends religious lines.

“Insecurity affects all of us—Christians and Muslims alike. I have no religious bias, and I remain committed to unity,” he said. “Nigeria’s progress must come before religious differences, and my doors remain open to dialogue.”
