President Bola Tinubu is set to travel to Accra, Ghana, on January 6, 2025, to attend the inauguration of President-elect John Mahama on January 7.
This was disclosed in a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, who noted that the invitation came from Mahama, who visited Tinubu in December 2024.
Mahama, Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017, returns to office after defeating incumbent Nana Akuffo-Addo in the December 2024 election. He is set to succeed Akuffo-Addo, who served from 2017 to 2025.
Tinubu will attend the ceremony in his capacity as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
He will be accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and other senior officials.
