The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed another attack on electricity infrastructure in Abuja, resulting in widespread power outages across several districts.

In a statement issued on Friday by its Public Affairs Manager, Ndidi Mbah, TCN reported that vandals targeted the 132kV transmission line and underground cable supplying bulk power to the Central Area transmission substation in Katampe.

This attack has severely impacted electricity supply to Maitama, Wuse, Garki, and other key areas.

The incident disrupted eight distribution feeders, causing over 60% of Abuja’s power supply to be cut off.

“The vandalism occurred around the Menillum Park axis, where 40 meters of 1x500mm XLPE conductor from two 132kV transmission lines were stolen,” the statement revealed.

Areas affected include Jabi, Lifecamp, Asokoro, Utako, Mabushi, and parts of the Presidential Villa.

TCN has dispatched engineers to the site to expedite repairs and restore power.

The company urged residents to remain patient and vigilant, appealing for public support in safeguarding critical infrastructure.
