Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja to represent Nigeria at the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
The event gathers global leaders, top executives, and development partners to address global economic challenges and explore solutions for improvement.
According to a statement by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Shettima will engage in bilateral meetings, workshops, and forums during the gathering.
A key highlight of his agenda is attending a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with the WEF.
The session aims to promote capital flow into Africa’s frontier markets and scale solutions for sustainable development across the continent.
The workshop will also unveil the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa to foster public-private partnerships for investment in the region.
Shettima is also set to attend a dinner with heads of state, government leaders, international organisations, and key business figures.
Additionally, he will co-chair a forum on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa,” focusing on the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, which was adopted in January 2024 by the African Union.
The Vice President will participate as a panelist in a session on “Global Risks 2025,” which will explore the challenges of geopolitical, technological, and environmental volatility highlighted in the Global Risks Report.
Accompanying the Vice President are key officials, including Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment Jumoke Oduwole and Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) Aisha Remi.
Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements.
