Nigerian singer Young Duu has sparked conversation online after claiming that fellow musician Davido is more approachable than Wizkid.
The comments came during an appearance on the podcast “Spill with Phyna.” Young Duu, formerly signed to Portable’s Zeh Nation label, said it can be difficult to gain access to Wizkid. “To see Wizkid is not easy,” he stated. “If Wizkid is here like this (gesturing) and you want to see Wizkid, they have to throw you there (arrange a meeting)…” He contrasted this with Davido, saying, “to see Davido is still dey near me (easier)”.
This comparison has divided fans on social media. Some see it as a reflection of Davido’s humility and willingness to connect with upcoming artists, while others view it as simply a function of their differing personalities.
This isn’t the first time comparisons have been drawn between these Afrobeats giants. Wizkid and Davido are frequently seen as rivals, both commercially successful and considered leaders of the Afrobeats movement.
