Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reassured residents that the ongoing political turmoil will fortify rather than weaken the state.

Fubara made this remark while receiving a delegation of Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic organisations, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, at his Port Harcourt residence during the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations.

Addressing his guests, he urged them to remain steadfast, emphasising faith and resilience amid the crisis.

“This season symbolises love, sacrifice, and unity. We believe that challenges serve a greater purpose, and this situation will only make us stronger,” he stated.

The embattled governor reassured his supporters of his commitment to justice and inclusivity, promising that no one would be marginalised under his leadership. He also cautioned against any attempts to incite violence, urging residents to uphold peace and stability in the state.

Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor, who spoke on behalf of the Muslim community, reaffirmed their solidarity with Fubara, commending his inclusive governance style. He called on President Bola Tinubu to review the current emergency rule in Rivers and reinstate Fubara’s full authority.

The visit concluded with prayers for the governor, his family, and the state’s peaceful resolution of its political challenges.
