The Cocoa Farmers Alliance Association of Africa (COFAAA) has called on state representatives in Nigeria’s cocoa-producing regions to put the interests of farmers first, ensuring their welfare remains a top priority. The organisation believes that a more farmer-focused approach will enhance cocoa production and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global market.

At a recent gathering in Oyo, COFAAA’s global president, Adeola Adegoke, underscored the necessity for improved farming methods and better post-harvest processing. He stressed that higher-quality cocoa would attract better pricing and increase Nigeria’s market share.

COFAAA also highlighted the importance of collaboration between cocoa farmers, policymakers, exporters, and industry stakeholders to create a sustainable and globally competitive cocoa sector. The organisation further outlined its plans to engage more young people in cocoa farming, recognising their role in the industry’s future.

Attendees at the meeting shared insights on the challenges facing cocoa farmers and pledged to work collectively towards advancing Nigeria’s cocoa industry. They also commended Adegoke for his leadership and vision for African cocoa farmers.
