To commemorate this year’s Easter celebration, the Federal Government has approved Thursday, April 18 and Monday, April 21 as national public holidays.
In a release issued on Tuesday, Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians across Nigeria, encouraging citizens to reflect on the values Easter represents, selflessness, love, and renewal.
Tunji-Ojo noted that Easter should serve as a time to embrace the sacrificial spirit shown by Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection symbolise redemption and hope for mankind.
He also urged Nigerians to commit the holiday to praying for national harmony and progress, reaffirming the current administration’s dedication to advancing the country under the Renewed Hope initiative.
The minister further encouraged acts of generosity and kindness toward others during the Easter period, reminding citizens that collective goodwill plays a vital role in national healing.
Wishing the public a peaceful celebration, he called on all Nigerians, regardless of faith, to share in the spirit of compassion that defines the season.
