The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered an illegal baby factory in the Ijegun area, rescuing 10 victims and arresting three suspects linked to the criminal operation.
The police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed on Monday that the discovery followed a credible tip-off received over the weekend. Operatives swiftly responded, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Mariam Vincent, alleged to be the ringleader, alongside two others — 23-year-old Orie Ruth and 18-year-old Ujunwa Ifeanyi.
According to the police, seven adult women and three children were found at the location. The children, identified as Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2), were among those rescued, while the adult victims included women between the ages of 22 and 26.
Investigations suggest that the suspects abducted victims from different areas across Lagos to operate the illicit facility.
Hundeyin confirmed that all victims are currently receiving medical and psychological support as investigations progress.
Charges are expected to be filed against the suspects soon.
