Nigerian music star, Peter Okoye, has publicly addressed what he describes as over 20 years of financial exploitation and betrayal at the hands of his older brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.

Testifying before a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday, the former P-Square member claimed Jude used a company secretly registered under his and his wife’s name to manage and control the group’s digital royalties, without consent from him or his twin brother, Paul Okoye.

In a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Mr P spoke out about years of staying silent “for the sake of family,” saying the emotional toll nearly broke him.

“Family isn’t supposed to manipulate, steal, or destroy you,” he wrote.

According to Peter, discrepancies in royalty payments led him to investigate the group’s financial records, which revealed significant irregularities. From 2017 to 2021, during P-Square’s first split, he claimed he was denied access to group funds, with Jude acting as the sole signatory.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is now prosecuting Jude and his company, Northside Music Ltd., on multiple charges including money laundering. Among the allegations is the purchase of a luxury Lagos property worth ₦850 million, allegedly financed through diverted royalties.

Jude has pleaded not guilty. The case is scheduled to continue on June 4.
