The Rivers State government has commenced preparations for its 2025 budget, focusing on key sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and job creation.
The state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas (retd.), revealed this on Thursday when he hosted a delegation from the Rivers State National Assembly caucus, led by Senator Barinada Mpigi, at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
According to Ibas, the Supreme Court’s ruling on the state budget has prompted an expedited process to draft a new appropriation bill that aligns with the government’s objectives of economic growth and social development.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring law and order, highlighting ongoing peace-building efforts and collaboration with security agencies to create a safer environment for residents.
“In addition to fostering peace, we are taking decisive steps towards economic stability,” Ibas said. “The forthcoming budget will reflect our dedication to social services, infrastructure, and sustainable development, ensuring timely investments that directly impact the lives of our citizens.”
He added that job creation and investment in key industries, including agriculture and technology, are central to the new budget’s framework. He also called for the support of lawmakers to drive these initiatives forward.
Senator Mpigi, speaking on behalf of the delegation, praised Ibas for his leadership and pledged their backing for measures aimed at stabilising and developing Rivers State.
