Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rejecting an attempt by certain groups and individuals to recall her from the Senate.

In a statement released on Thursday, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central praised the electoral body for maintaining constitutional integrity and resisting pressure from what she described as “undemocratic forces” within Kogi State and the Senate.

Her remarks follow INEC’s announcement that the recall petition failed to meet constitutional requirements and could no longer proceed.

Expressing gratitude for the commission’s stance, Akpoti-Uduaghan criticised former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and others whom she accused of trying to undermine her political mandate.

“God has put to shame those attempting to remove me unjustly, including a former governor now wanted by the EFCC,” she stated. “I never feared because I trust in God and the unwavering support of my people.”

She described INEC’s decision as a triumph of justice over manipulation, commending the electoral body for upholding democratic principles.

“This verdict is a victory against oppression and a testament to INEC’s independence. Those who rely on electoral fraud and intimidation should know their time in politics is running out,” she added.

Akpoti-Uduaghan reiterated her commitment to championing justice and contributing to a better Nigeria.
