The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has initiated an investigation into the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) over alleged mismanagement of public funds.

Sources within the anti-graft agency confirmed that 146 NCPC employees, including current and former staff, have been invited for questioning at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

The interviews are scheduled to take place throughout the week.

An internal memo from the NCPC, dated January 16, directed the affected individuals to report to the EFCC with their international passports.

The memo, signed by Assistant Director APD, Chukwura Frank, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, referred to the probe as part of an investigation into public fund misappropriation.

Staff were assigned specific dates for their appearance, with roles such as Assistant Chief Accountant, Principal Procurement Officer, and Assistant Chief Administrative Officer among those listed.

A staff member familiar with the matter dismissed concerns, describing the probe as a standard review of the commission’s financial records.

Efforts to reach representatives of the EFCC and NCPC for further comments were unsuccessful as of press time.
